Women's Bikini

The bikini owes its name to an atoll in the Marshall Islands, site of nuclear testing in the 1940s, as if to emphasize its explosive effect. Like a 90-degree wash, time and social norms have had a shrinking effect on the two-piece swimsuit: from the bandeau and high-waisted bikini, it jumps to the triangle, strappy or Brazilian bikini. On the contrary, its disruptive character seems to resist even the hottest washes.
