Amarula 17% 100cl
From tree to bottle, it takes more than two years to create each bottle of the delicious, award-winning Amarula Original Cream liqueur. The magical story of Amarula begins with the exotic Marula fruit. Marula trees cannot be cultivated by humans, growing wild in the sub-equatorial plains of Africa. We hand-pick the best fruit under the hot African sun, once perfectly ripe, to give Amarula its unique and distinctive taste.
The Marula fruit is hand-picked in the wild and transported to our facilities, where the inner stone and skin are removed. The white pulp is then fermented and distilled to obtain Marula spirit. It is critical that the fresh pulp be pressed and distilled as quickly as possible to preserve its fresh fruity aromas in Marula spirit.
After distillation, the spirit is matured and aged for two years in French oak barrels. During this process, the natural characteristics of wood spices, such as vanilla and caramel, are absorbed into the liquid, enriching its flavor. These flavors are further enhanced by the final addition of cream, which gives Amarula Cream its rich, velvety texture.
The design of our bottle evocatively celebrates the brand's most iconic symbol: the African elephant. This animal has always been closely associated with Amarula, and together with our designers, we were able to incorporate its shape directly into the glass. The new bottle shape is called "Jabulani," which means "to rejoice" in Zulu. The name is inspired by the story of an orphaned baby elephant, Jabulani, who was rescued and successfully reintroduced into the wild by South African conservationists.
To strengthen our connection with the African elephant, the Amarula Trust was born in 2008, supporting scholars in studying elephant behavior and contributing to their protection within South Africa's borders. To date, Amarula has donated 9 million rand to conservation initiatives, but we didn't stop there... In 2016, our efforts expanded to the rest of Africa through a partnership with Wildlife Direct and its Kenyan CEO, Dr. Paula Kahumbu. The funds generated from Amarula's worldwide sales, combined with the experience and dedication of Paula and her team, will help us protect the continent's elephants, which are a key part of Amarula's African heritage and history.
