It all began with a Chinese snuff box, an exquisite piece of Asian Art Deco art that ignited Atkinsons' imagination. Amber Empire became one of the first oriental fragrances introduced to the Western world in 1927, and at the time it was a charmingly exotic scent, "as mysterious and refined as the eternal Orient." However, the 21st century Amber Empire eau de toilette, created by perfumer Maurice Roucel, is not so much exotic as cosmopolitan, contemporary, and damnably sensual.

Sculpted from a precious amber accord, Amber Empire is an intense and atmospheric fragrance, steamy and lingering, a new oriental fragrance that blends the old world with the new. A citrusy, fresh top note of bergamot combines with Chinese magnolia and oolong tea, then gives way to a base of vanilla, myrrh, ambroxine, and musk.

Oolong tea, so prized in Chinese tea rituals, possesses a distinctive floral sweetness and an earthy green note that, in concert with a very high concentration of white musk (70%), expands the amber notes into a floral and completely steamy aura.

This particular construction gives Amber Empire an ambivalent sensuality, as rich as amber and as light as the steam rising from a cup of tea.
