In the early 20th century, Prince Hussein visited King George V with a mission to gain British political recognition of the Arab state. Loyal, brave and fierce, Prince Hussein shrewdly negotiated with King George V, agreeing to his request to help Britain in the war against Turkey in exchange for the recognition he desired. Before his return to Amman, Prince Hussein visited Atkinsons House and, intoxicated by the rich nuances of the perfumes and driven by a desire to celebrate the pact from which an independent Arab state would be born, Prince Hussein decided to commission a new fragrance. A charismatic oriental perfume made by a British perfumer would symbolize the newfound union between the Middle East and Europe. The conditions for the prince's commission were clear: the fragrance had to be modern, penetrating and intriguing but still preserve a distinct oud heart.
