Atkinsons The Other Side Of Oud EDP
The Oud collection captures that idyllic chapter in time when two great civilizations, England and the East, were perfectly intertwined. Evoking the romantic desert intrigues of sheiks, kings, and emissaries, these rare and noble ouds are as British and exotic as the luminaries who inspired them: the dashing Crown Prince Mohammed Ali Ibrahim (and his beloved Mabel Normand, the Hollywood enchantress), Gertrude Bell, the Victorian Queen of the Desert, and Faisal I, the legendary Arabian king. Behind the exquisite aroma of oud, infused with amber, warm spices and animal notes, what else is hidden? "The Other Side of Oud" eau de parfum reveals the unexpected and explores the contrast between the toasty and fresh facets of oud. Powerfully evocative, this epic fragrance encapsulates the integral essences of an intrepid leap into a wonderful new era, masterfully combining the classic woody notes of oud with exciting modern elements to create an unprecedented and surprising interpretation. The Other Side of Oud is as magnetic and captivating as the Prince who inspired it. Destined from birth to be a leader, Hussein Bin Ali, Sharif of Mecca, envisioned a single independent and united Arab state. In the early 20th century, Prince Hussein visited King George V with a mission to gain British political recognition of the Arab state. Loyal, brave and fierce, Prince Hussein shrewdly negotiated with King George V, agreeing to his request to help Britain in the war against Turkey in exchange for the recognition he desired. Before his return to Amman, Prince Hussein visited Atkinsons House and, intoxicated by the rich nuances of the perfumes and driven by a desire to celebrate the pact from which an independent Arab state would be born, Prince Hussein decided to commission a new fragrance. A charismatic oriental perfume created by a British perfumer would be the symbol of the newfound union between the Middle East and Europe. The Prince's commissioning conditions were clear: the fragrance had to be modern, penetrating and intriguing, but at the same time preserve a distinctive heart of oud. His vision manifested itself in a unique bouquet, a captivating blend of opposites, an intriguing balance of tradition and modernity. Created by perfumers Maurice Roucel and Pierre Guéros, The Other Side of Oud opens with a surprising spicy encounter between warm cinnamon, fresh cardamom, and juicy ginger at the top. The heart then reveals a burgeoning blend of oud along with a bouquet of geranium and coffee flowers, before giving way to a base of vibrant roasted coffee, soft vanilla absolute, and smoky incense that completes this scent of independence.
