Biondi-Santi is the winery that created Brunello di Montalcino, and its Riserva was first produced in 1888, the parent vintage of the entire appellation. Since then, Biondi-Santi has released the Riserva only 41 times, in particularly exceptional vintages. The climatic trend of 1983, characterized by a spring with frequent rains and a dry and hot summer, allowed the grapes to ripen well, although early than average. This wine was refilled in 2000, a procedure that takes place exclusively at the winery.
