Caffo Gin Emporia Phoenician Juniper 70cl - 5939147

Emporia Gin, created by Distilleria Caffo, is a premium gin made with Phoenician juniper, introduced by one of the first Italian producers starting in the 1950s in southern Italy. Juniper berries and other natural ingredients are distilled in-house.

The use of these rare berries, which were originally wild in Calabria but are now grown on the farm's grounds, gives the gin a delicate flavor. The unique infusion involves a large quantity of berries steeped in high-quality neutral alcohol, distilled in a 1945 copper pot still by the bain-marie steam method to extract the aromatic essence and eliminate distillation tails rich in less soluble oils.

This meticulous process, guided by experienced Master Distillers, includes the addition of citrus peels and aromatic plants according to seasonal availability. After a year, spices and water from the Tyrrhenian Sea (part of the Mediterranean that bathes Calabria) are added. The mixture is then redistilled to blend the botanical aromas with the Phoenician juniper base.
