Tenute Lunelli Solenida, Sangiovese, Costa Toscana I.G.T.
A pure Sangiovese, Solenida is the result of a rigorous selection of grapes from the Podernovo estate, made through the AnimavitisR project that allows micro-zones with small bunches and light, concentrated grapes to be harvested separately, achieving the highest quality and expression of the terroir. It is a wine of great character also thanks to the choices in the vinification phase, which takes place partly in amphora. It is organic, like all the Estate's wines, and owes its name to the Solenidae shell, and evidence of the fossil presence in the Estate's soil. Soil type: characterized by the presence of silty sands with a good component of clays and a considerable amount of fossil residue. Training system: spurred cordon, 5680 vines per ha. Production ha: 50 quintals of grapes per hectare. Fermentation temperature: 24-26 °C for 21 days in steel vats.Maceration time: cold pre-maceration, at 12 °C for 36 hours. Maceration in steel will potrae for about 3 weeks in order to slowly extract the best color and tannins. Maceration in terracotta amphorae, involving 10 percent of the wine, lasts at least 3 months. Maturation: in oak barrels and casks, part French and part Slavonian, for 24 months, followed by 24 months in bottle.
First year of production: 2015.
